Introduction

Mogadishu University (MU) was established in 1997 with six professors and 200 hundred students, in a privately owned house in Mogadishu. The initial vision of the heroic decision to work towards establishing a first non-state and non-profit university in Somalia was unbelievable in the mindset of a war-torn community and the divided city of Mogadishu at the time, but the founding members insisted on the establishment of higher education institution.

The university was born from a vision to restore hopes and socially change the community by providing a high-quality education and new ideas to flourish in a mid of civil war ruins that devastated everything in the country.

MU has been growing and gaining a reputation to become one of the largest universities in Somalia and East Africa. It has become a beacon of hope to the thousands of young Somalis and continues to advancing its strategic goal to become a leader of social and economic change in collaboration with government, academic institutions, civil society groups, business and international organizations.

In 2013, Mogadishu University launched its postgraduate program that includes diplomas, masters, and doctoral studies. This program has been highly welcomed by students who did not have the opportunity to join universities abroad, either due to economic or working conditions. The university has achieved so far the objectives of this program and looks forward, according to its strategy 2021-2025, to its expansion and development in line with recent international standards.

The University is dedicated to providing affordable and accessible high-quality education attuned to the national values of the Somali people.

Mission

The Working on excellence in educating, training, and transforming qualified persons equipped with updated knowledge and specialized skills and pursuit of knowledge, research, and publication.

Postgraduate Program and research at Mogadishu University aims at:

1. Working on the development of knowledge in all its branches through specialized studies to reach scientific additions and reveal new facts.
2. Providing the opportunity for outstanding university graduates to continue their higher studies locally. .

3. Preparing specialized scientific cadres and qualifying them highly in different fields of knowledge. .

4. Encouraging scientific competencies to keep pace with the rapid progress of science and technology to ensure the creativity, innovation, and development of scientific research and directing researchers to address the issues of Somali society. .

5. Contributing to the development of the undergraduate level to interact with the postgraduate program. .

6. Taking care, expanding, and publishing studies on Islamic, Arabic, and Somali issues. .

7. Contributing to achieving the university's vision, mission, and goals. .

8. Directing projects that contribute to solving the country's problems.

• Valid Passport
• Intent Letter of your research (only PhDs)
• Recommendation Letter
• 4 Pictures with color (6x4)
• Payment of the registration fee
• File for the documents
