The goals of the program are:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical foundations and practice models used in social work with families and children, including family systems theory, attachment theory, and trauma-informed practice.
- Gain knowledge of child development theories and milestones to effectively assess and support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development within the family context.
- Understand the impact of social, cultural, and environmental factors on family functioning and child well-being, and develop culturally sensitive and inclusive approaches to practice.
- Learn evidence-based interventions and techniques for working with families and children, including assessment tools, therapeutic modalities, and strategies for promoting resilience and positive outcomes.
- Explore the dynamics of family systems, including roles, communication patterns, and power dynamics, and develop skills for engaging and collaborating with families in the decision-making process.
- Gain an understanding of the ethical and legal considerations specific to social work practice with families and children, including issues of confidentiality, informed consent, and mandated reporting.
